Purpose

Providing access to quality education in English medium, digital literacy, personal grooming as well as health care facilities to the children of the rural community residing in more than 50 villages in and around Tangi block.

Objective

•  To help in facilitating quality education to rural children by providing classrooms, Library, Composite Science lab, and Computer lab. 
•  To mobilize & motivate the villagers to send their children (especially girls) to school.
•  Infrastructure development for better education facilities.

Initiatives

The villagers were not able to send their children to school due to the distance of the government school from their location, lack of awareness, lack of interest in education, and financial issues. On conducting a need assessment study in 2011, we discovered that an educational institution nearby the village was the need of the hour. In 2011, we initiated this project as an individual venture that was completely free for all rural students and provided nutritious food and medical checkups for their good health. We also provided transportation facilities for the students who were coming from afar. Later (On the 28th of December 2016), we collaborated with a premier central educational body called DAV for the implementation of this projectat an affordable and nominalfeestructure. Our commitment is to inculcate basic human and traditional values, as already enshrined in the charter of the Padmabati Shiksha Niketan Society when it was founded and continues to be maintained. Our school is affiliated with CBSE. This project facilitates education and digital literacy through separate provision of science and computer labs. In addition to the same, we are coming up with another building for classes 11th& 12th as a part of the infrastructure development plan. Through this, we are targeting to cater to a greater number of rural students to benefit from our school and not haveto shift to other schools post 10th to appear for their higher secondary exams.

Achievements/Impacts

•  A Primary building was completed for primary students.
•  G+2 new building completed for secondary and high school students. 
•  A Composite Science Laboratory Completed for rural students. 
•  A good library setup for the beneficiaries. 
•  An 800-square-metre boundary wall was completed as per CBSE requirements. 
•  673 rural students have directly benefited from this initiative. 
•  More than 1000 villagers have benefited directly or indirectly through the construction work under the infrastructure development of this rural school. 
•  One large playground for the students. 
•  100% success in the CBSE 10th Board examination for three consecutive years.
•  Rural studentsare better groomed.
•  The health of the underprivileged rural community is monitored, and records are maintained. 
•  We have seen tremendous growth in academics as well as extra-curricular activities.
•  Enhanced grasping and assimilation, as evidenced by the progress report. 
•  English communication (oral and written) is improved. 
•  Healthy & positive feedback from parents about the school and their children.
•  Girl students excel in their studies. 
•  Indian values and culture are well taught and noticed in practice. 
•  Attendance of children is good. 
•  Green ambiance and surroundings enable a healthy environment for the students to study.
•  Large classrooms, with each having a 900 sq. ft carpet area. 
•  Students are well-mannered. Cultural change is noticed in students. 
•  Academic planning is appreciably done by DAV teaching professionals. 
•  1st batch 10th topper Mr. Binoy Ranjan Roul has secured 99.5% in JEE Main Results and 2nd batch topper Ms. Priyanka Swain secured 93.8% along with 30 other students of the same batch securing meritorious markings the CBSE board exams.
•  A secure feeling for parents as their children are taught and taken care of well by DAV PPS.
