Purpose:

The purpose of the project is to provide educational support to underprivileged students living in slums of Lucknow. By providing academic assistance, the project aims to bridge the gap between access to better education and cultural upliftment in these areas.

Objective:

The objective of the project is to establish educational and cultural centers in 25 different slum areas of Lucknow. The project aims to provide educational support to 750 students through these centers. Along with academic assistance, the project also focuses on inculcating social values and enhancing national feelings among students.

Initiative:

The project involves setting up study centers in various slum areas of Lucknow. These centers will provide academic support in the form of tuitions in English, Math, and Science for students from 1st to 7th grade. Additionally, the project also includes conducting three training workshops and one annual residential camp on the topic of life skills and social values.

Impact:

The project is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of underprivileged students in slums of Lucknow. By providing academic support and inculcating social values, the project aims to improve the quality of education and reduce dropout rates among students. The project also aims to enhance the national feelings among students, which can lead to a positive change in the overall mindset of the community.

Purpose

The primary purpose of the establishment of this system is to create a provision for constructing environment-friendly wet waste composting pits for the residents of Bopodi. The system will help in managing the solid waste generated by the community in an efficient and sustainable manner.

Objective

The objective of this project is to educate community members about the importance of segregating waste into wet and dry waste. With no provision for wet waste dumping in the neighbourhood, the project aims to construct 10 wet waste composting pits in collaboration with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Rotary Club of Pune. The project also aims to reduce the carbon footprint by converting waste to compost and using it in plantations.

Initiative

The Community Solid Waste Management System has initiated awareness campaigns amongst the community members to differentiate between wet and dry waste. With the help of PMC and the Rotary Club of Pune, the project has successfully constructed 10 wet waste composting pits. 

Impacts

The project has educated the community about the importance of recycling and reusing waste. The conversion of waste to compost and its use in plantations will reduce the carbon footprint and promote sustainable living. The program impacts around 1000 residents of Bopodi. The segregation of waste helps in preventing various diseases and promotes a hygienic environment.

In conclusion, the establishment of the Community Solid Waste Management System in Bopodi, Pune, is a significant step towards sustainable living. The project aims to educate the community about the importance of waste segregation and promote sustainable waste management practices. The successful implementation of this project will inspire other communities to take similar initiatives towards building a sustainable future.

Objective

The objective of this project is to create awareness regarding menstrual hygiene practices among adolescent girls in an urban slum area and prepare them to lead a healthy reproductive life in the future.

Activity

The first step towards achieving our objective is mobilizing 100 girls and women from the Kasewadi, Janwadi, and Ramoshiwadi Slum Areas. We will conduct an informative session on the subject of healthy menstruation hygiene practices by the expert of the Seva Sahyog Organization. The session will include information on the importance of menstrual hygiene, the use of sanitary napkins, and how to dispose of them in an eco-friendly manner.

To encourage the use of eco-friendly sanitary napkins, we will provide a six-month supply to the participants. This will ensure that the beneficiaries have access to hygienic menstrual products and can continue to follow healthy menstrual practices even after the project ends.

Geographical Location

The project will be implemented in the Kasewadi, Janwadi, and Ramoshiwadi Slum Areas in the urban area.

Target Beneficiaries

The project aims to benefit a total of 100 underprivileged community women from the chosen area. By providing access to information and eco-friendly menstrual products, we hope to empower these women to take control of their reproductive health and lead a healthy life.

Purpose

To improve their health by providing a kidney dialysis machine for hepatitis C-positive patients.

Objective

To collaborate with the Rotary Club of Pune and the Government Hospital of Pune Municipal Corporation to provide two dialysis machines for the treatment of the poorest of the poor. We offer our services at a minimal cost or even free, depending on the patient's income.

Initiatives

The cost of the dialysis machine was huge and thus difficult for every hospital to procure so easily therefore we provided two dialysis machines, especially for the hepatitis C patients, for regular treatment. The treatment is given free of cost and made easily accessible. 

Impacts

1. Improving the quality of life of patients with Hepatitis C.
2. Reduces the financial burden of these patients.
3. Catered to more than 30 patients so far on a weekly basis.
4. Making healthcare more accessible to them.

Purpose

Since Primitive Tribal Groups constitute the most vulnerable section among tribals and inhabit isolated, remote and difficult areas in small and scattered hamlets/habitats, the project aims at planning their socio-economic development in a holistic manner by adopting habitat development approach and intervening in all spheres of their social and economic life, so that the quality of life of primitive tribal communities is improved and a visible impact is made.

• Upliftment of primitive tribal communities such as the Sabar and others for holistic development through different social welfare activities.
• To support primitive tribal children towards their education.

Purpose

 RSBF provide preventive health care and therapies to the specially-abled children of the Vishwas Special School so that they can cope with their daily living needs and improve communication skills.

Objective

 Our program aims to provide therapies to specially-abled children from lower economic strata with Special Education, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Vocational Training.

Initiative

Our program is designed to prevent healthcare issues by providing early intervention and specialized care for each student. Through our partnership with Vishwas Special School, we are committed to providing special attention to 51 students with special needs and attention to help them achieve their full potential. Our team of experienced, qualified professionals offer a range of therapies for children with special needs, including those with physical and learning disabilities. Our Special Education program focuses on individualized learning plans for each student, while our Physiotherapy program provides tailored exercises to help children develop physical strength and mobility.

Impact

1. Occupational Therapy program helps develop skills needed for daily living and improves fine motor skills, while our Speech Therapy program focuses on improving communication and language abilities.
2. Vocational Training program provides students with valuable skills and opportunities to prepare them for the workforce.
3. The physiotherapy program helps children develop physical strength and mobility.

Purpose

Providing access to quality education in English medium, digital literacy, personal grooming as well as health care facilities to the children of the rural community residing in more than 50 villages in and around Tangi block.

Objective

•  To help in facilitating quality education to rural children by providing classrooms, Library, Composite Science lab, and Computer lab. 
•  To mobilize & motivate the villagers to send their children (especially girls) to school.
•  Infrastructure development for better education facilities.

Initiatives

The villagers were not able to send their children to school due to the distance of the government school from their location, lack of awareness, lack of interest in education, and financial issues. On conducting a need assessment study in 2011, we discovered that an educational institution nearby the village was the need of the hour. In 2011, we initiated this project as an individual venture that was completely free for all rural students and provided nutritious food and medical checkups for their good health. We also provided transportation facilities for the students who were coming from afar. Later (On the 28th of December 2016), we collaborated with a premier central educational body called DAV for the implementation of this projectat an affordable and nominalfeestructure. Our commitment is to inculcate basic human and traditional values, as already enshrined in the charter of the Padmabati Shiksha Niketan Society when it was founded and continues to be maintained. Our school is affiliated with CBSE. This project facilitates education and digital literacy through separate provision of science and computer labs. In addition to the same, we are coming up with another building for classes 11th& 12th as a part of the infrastructure development plan. Through this, we are targeting to cater to a greater number of rural students to benefit from our school and not haveto shift to other schools post 10th to appear for their higher secondary exams.

Purpose

 Project Prajwal provides students with a learning ground to explore the latest computer-based technologies helping them in various applications such as AI technology, Robotics, Cloud computing and simulation. This project caters to the Government school of Jeergiwad village and 4 neighbouring villages so that underprivileged students can benefit from this programme.

Objective

 The Project Prajwal, meaning "ignition to the mind," aims to provide a unique opportunity for 117 students to conduct experiments beyond the boundaries of traditional textbooks. This initiative encourages the development of a creative mindset and comprehension of technology in the classroom, which helps students develop critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities. 

Initiatives

 RSB Foundation is working in association with the Jeeragiwad Village Government School and the Janani Pratishthan Association in the implementation of this project & mobilisation of the students. We have helped them with infrastructure development to establish the computer centre and a tinkering laboratory. We have provided them with 10 computers and a professional trainer to train the students in the application of computer technology in various fields. We organise study tours to various industries and educational institutions to understand the technological development and practical application of their knowledge.

Impact

Purpose

To support the old age people of Nandivali village and help them lead a peaceful and comfortable life with access to healthy and hygienic drinking water as well as providing them with alternative sources of income through crops other than rice. The idea is to stop the migration of their children and reunite them with their families by making this village a model village.

Objective

Nandivali village is predominantly occupied by senior citizens. The nearest Water body was almost 5-6 km away and roads were uphill and downhill also mostly inaccessible. Most of the youth have migrated to nearby cities leaving these people vulnerable. In an effort to empower the community in Nandivali Village, Taluka Mulshi, the RSB Foundation has taken an extraordinary step by providing a water tank with an impressive capacity of 30,000 litres. The foundation aims to encourage the villagers to explore alternative agricultural products and diversify their crops, including the production of turmeric and other medicinal and aromatic plants. This initiative is expected to enable the villagers to become self-sufficient and independent also improving their health conditions by regular checkups through qualified doctors and health workers. This project aims to benefit more than 100 village members.

Initiatives

On a preliminary survey along with the gram panchayat and the villagers, we came to a conclusion that hygienic drinking water was inaccessible therefore we built a 30000 ltr capacity water tank and laid a 4km pipeline with a community participatory approach so that they can access hygienic drinking water at their doorstep. The plan is to help them build a farm pond and train them in alternate sources of agricultural income opportunities other than Rice cultivation. We have lit the entire village with solar lights so that the roads are visible on cold dark nights. We further shall educate the villagers on the preservation of soil erosion due to natural heavy rainfall in the region and we plan to build sustainable internal roads and educate them on the usage of renewable sources of energy and self-dependant. We run a mobile health check-up van with qualified doctors and health workers from Pune Rural Dist Health Department once a month for their regular checkups as the nearest hospital is more than 10-12 km away in Male block and quite impossible for them to travel alone at their age.

Impact

1. The villagers worked collaboratively with the RSB Foundation, constructing a ferro cement water tank, which is a cost-effective and durable solution to tackle the drinking water problem in the area. The collaboration between the foundation and the villagers is a testament to the power of collective effort and highlights the importance of working together to achieve common goals.
2. Safe drinking water was made accessible at their doorstep.
3. The solar light installation has helped them with visibility.
4. With farm pond construction, they can draw and store water in their individual house for the purpose of irrigation.
5. The Foundation aims to encourage the villagers to explore alternative agriculture products and diversify their crop including cultivation of turmeric and other medicinal and aromatic plants.
6. We are catering to more than 40 households.
7. Access to quality health check-up facility through the mobile health unit run by RSBF in collaboration with Pune Rural Dist Health Department.
8. Helped them in registration of their Abha Card and Golden Card.
   

Purpose

Providing mid-day meals to underprivileged school children in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad regions. The program aims to enhance good health in children, primarily girls from Dalits and Adivasi tribes, to reduce malnutrition and foster primary education.

Objective

This project is implemented with the support of support the Annamrita Foundation. This project aims to promote good health, resulting in increased attendance and reduced dropout rates by providing the students with a wholesome nutritious mid-day meal. The program covers government-owned schools located in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and Pune. Our Objective is to mobilise children especially girl children to come forward and get enrolled in schools to promote primary education and to reduce malnutrition.

Initiatives

RSB Foundation has run this project for more than 5 years in collaboration with Annamrita Foundation by providing wholesome nutritious mid-day meals to the students across 4 schools in the PCMC and PMC area for 230 days (excluding vacations/holidays). Through this Program, we have benefitted more than 1200 students every year.

Objective

G.H.S. Khempur was established in 1978 and is managed by the Department of Education. It is located in a rural area. It is located in the GADARPUR block of the UDHAM SINGH NAGAR district of Uttarakhand. The school consists of grades 6 to 10. The school is co-educational, and it doesn`t have an attached pre-primary section. Hindi is the medium of instruction in this school. This school is accessible all year. In this school, the academic session starts in April. The school has a government building. It has three classrooms for instructional purposes.

 Providing safe drinking water and sanitation facilities.

 Managing the waste water in a better manner to avoid water-borne disease.

 Ground leveling and fixing tiles in front of the science lab area, which is to be used for the midday meal.

Purpose

Project Utthan is supported by RSB Foundation and successfully run by Swa-Roopwardhinee – a 40-year-old NGO committed to improving the lives of those in need. It is a remarkable initiative aimed at improving the lives of underprivileged children in the urban slum areas of Pune. The project is specifically designed to support the education and facilitate overall growth in students from 3rd to 8th standard. 

Objective

 Project Utthan aims to promote the overall growth of underprivileged and gifted children by organizing support/remedial classes in critical subjects such as Science, Maths and English. Moreover, the project also conducts workshops on life skills and social development, physical and personality grooming and other skills ensuring that students get a holistic growth apart from education.

Initiatives

The project has set up 10 study centres across various parts of the city’s slum areas to ensure that every student gets access to support/remedial classes in Science, Maths, and English subjects throughout the year. This initiative has benefitted more than 1000 students across Pune by now and we have provided almost 80 most capable and deserving candidates with scholarship for further education. This year, three workshops have already been conducted along with one residential camp of four days for the students. 

Impact

1. Project Utthan is providing support to approximately 500 children living in the urban slum areas of Pune, and out of which, 40 students have received scholarships from the RSB Foundation in the current academic year. 
2. Project Utthan is making a significant impact on the lives of children living in the slum areas of Pune, ensuring that they have access to quality education and a brighter future.
3. Parents are extremely happy and satisfied that their child is receiving quality education free of cost.
4. Parents of the scholarship holders are also very happy as their child’s future is fully secured and they don’t have bear any cost related to their child’s school fees, study materials and other educational expenses. 

Purpose

 Make women independent and self-reliant. We support women's empowerment in slum areas of Aurangabad along with educating them on Breast Cancer, mental well-being, reproductive health, legal rights, handling relationships, stress management and intense leadership development.

Objective

RSB Foundation has partnered for the last 5 years with the Women Empowerment (Mahila Prakalp) wing of the Savitribai Phule Mahila Ekatma Samaj Mandal, an NGO dedicated to empowering women in slums. To create awareness on various topics such as Breast Cancer, Mental Well-being & Management of Stress, Intense Leadership Development, Reproductive Health, and Better Relationships, empowering women via Self-help Groups and providing livelihood opportunities. This project targets women in the age group of 18-45 years of age.

Initiatives

RSB Foundation along with the NGO identified a need for awareness amongst women about various important aspects affecting their mental and physical well-being. We aim to enhance the capacity of more than 4500 women to cope with changing environments and improve their overall quality of life. 90 selected women go through an intense leadership development programme to organise and spearhead various programmes for community development. Each leader conducts6 programs under them thus culminating in more than 400 programmes in all. 120 illiterate women are selected for comprehensive education. More than 3000 women have been educated on their legal rights related to marriage.

Impact

1. We have catered to more than 35000 women till date.
2. They are aware of their legal rights thus they feel mentally strong.
3. They become independent and self-reliant by running several small-time businesses and leadership programmes.
4. They are recognised for their efforts to develop the community at large.
5. They help each other in times of need or get the needy to us for counselling.
6. They try to resolve menial issues among themselves instead of approaching the corporators.
7. They gain respect in their families as well as the society.

Purpose

 Project Arogya Sampada ensures that every individual in the region has access to medical facilities and qualified doctors and healthcare professionals. This project focuses on the vulnerable section of society such as the senior citizens, mothers and children, girls and the tribal community at large. We work in collaboration with Mulshi Taluka Health Department to provide crucial knowledge about health and well-being to the targeted community and students residing in these villages and encourage them to spread this knowledge further.

Objective

The villages in Taluka Mulashi are located in remote areas, which makes it challenging for the residents to access quality healthcare services. To address this issue, the RSB Foundation along with doctors and health workers, from Mulshi Taluka Health Department runs a mobile health unit van 4 times a month covering 3 villages a day and conducts regular health checkups, child and mother vaccinations, and other necessary medical services such as blood pressure, sugar, hypertension, eye check-up etc. We intend to provide awareness on healthy living and other health-related issues in the targeted community.

Initiative

We conduct weekly camps covering three villages in each visit, for a total of 2 hrs per village totalling 48 camps per year. We have provided each patient with a unique health card that mentions their Name, age, height, weight, date of visit, diagnosis, prescription and progress on follow-up visits. As of now, we have reached to more than 1500 beneficiaries. Medicines are provided if needed free of cost. The team also uses this opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining good health and other topics such as breast cancer awareness, COVID vaccinations, menstrual hygiene and other vaccinations pertaining to mother and child. We also do home visits to bedridden or very elderly people. 

Impact

1. To improve the standard of living and health of the people residing in these areas.
2. Successfully covered COVID vaccination of double doses in the entire Mulashi Taluka covering more than 52 villages. This was a 100% success as we were able to vaccinate every single individual eligible for vaccination.
3. We have catered to more than 1500 beneficiaries in and around Mulshi.
4. Sanitary napkins were distributed and due to the awareness girls are maintaining menstrual hygiene as guided by doctors.
5. The very elderly who are not mobile are provided medical aid at their doorsteps and they have benefitted immensely from this programme.
6. Their transportation cost and travel costs are also saved due to the mobile unit.
7. Medical aid and essential medicines are provided on a timely basis thus giving them immense benefit.

Purpose

Spreading Awareness of Breast Cancer- its detection, screening, early diagnosis, treatment and mental Counselling for women. 

Objective

 Cancer has become very common due to current lifestyle, stress & environmental factors. This project was initiated with the hope of spreading awareness among the sub-urban and slum women living in cities or close to main cities to understand what is breast cancer, the reasons one can get exposed to the disease, how to detect if there are any symptoms shown by the body, helping them with screenings and treatment by associating with specialised hospitals. We also offer mental counselling for such patients.

Initiative

Multiple factors are directly affecting the increase in breast cancer cases in India. The main factors causing this rise include lack of awareness, delay in diagnosis, limited human resources, lack of funds for treatment and medicines and most importantly fear of being detected with cancer. As a result, the maximum cases of breast cancer are diagnosed at stage III or IV of the disease (as per Fotedar V, 2013 Report). We mobilise these slum women by explaining to them that anyone aged 18 and above can get exposed to the disease therefore early detection and diagnosis can prevent the spread of cancer to a higher stage hence increasing their survival rate by 90%.   We involve community health workers in organizing awareness sessions in villages, slums and sub-urban regions and help them in availing the government schemes for the treatments. 

Impact

1. A team of doctors conduct free check-ups for the women who attend the awareness camp.
2. This camp is held bi-monthly in and around Pune.
3. Convincing these women and mobilising them to attend these sessions.
4. We have covered more than 600 women so far. Out of which 9 were identified with some symptoms and were referred to Orchid Breast Health Centre for mammogram and further diagnosis.
5. Post the success of this program in Pune, we are planning to replicate the same in other plant locations in India. 

Purpose

To provide quality primary health care services free of cost to the tribal community and educate them on basic hygiene practices. Counselling to give importance to their own health and look after the family and resist addiction.

Objective

To provide quality primary health services free of charge to the people of 10 villages at their doorstep. To educate people not to defecate in the open, and promote improved water, sanitation, and hygiene practices. Particularly focus on schools and the formation of "School Sanitation Clubs”. Counselling at least 40% of addicts and their families in the village.To save Health-related expenses of the village Population.

Initiatives

 There are nearly 82 families living in the Kendua GP, which is situated in the Purbi Singhbhum region of Jharkhand's Dumaria Block. According to the 2011 Population Census, there are 465 people living in Badalgoda village, 234 of whom are men and 231 are women. In Badalgoda village, Schedule Tribe (ST) people make up 95.48% of the total population. Eighty children aged 0 to 6 live in Badalgoda village, accounting for 17.20% of the hamlet's total population. In contrast to Jharkhand, Badalgoda village has a lower literacy rate. 10 villages in the Kendua GP make up the project area. The project has run for more than 11 years. There are five thousand people in total. The target is"Swach village and spread of health awareness". RSB Foundation offers high-quality primary health care at their doorstep. Our team educates them on basic hygiene practices and the ill effects of addiction in family life and on personal health. We run this health camp twice every month.

Impacts

• We covered almost 5000 tribal populations in and around Kendua GP.
• Villagers have expressed their view that they are happy, healthy, and fit due to the health care facilities provided by RSBF at their doorstep.
• The villagers save their expenses on health care and medicines.
• They are encouraged to follow better water, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
• The practices of urinating and defecating in the open have been reduced largely, through the establishment of "School Sanitation Clubs".
• Our counselling has helped the addicts to try and resist alcohol addiction and give more importance to earning a livelihood and understanding their responsibility towards family.

Community-based project: Vridha Shanti Niketan, is a home for senior citizens to enjoy leisure time with their peer group. It has chat rooms and indoor games for engagement. Seniors and young people get together on a regular basis to foster understanding. "A Home Away from Home" to enjoy happy times spent together and consistent communication to hear about their adventures. The old age recreational home provides a good existence free from isolation and loneliness in old age to elderly people.

• To provide a happy and healthy environment to the senior citizens.
• To provide a recreational facility or centre and recreation centre for Senior citizens.

Objective

• To provide health care facilities.
• To help the needy aged (any person above 60 years), irrespective of caste or creed.
• To encourage the senior citizens to actively participate in the social services.
• To provide them with a peaceful, happy, and safe environment for their betterment.

• Around 150 senior citizens and super senior citizens are happy to get a recreation centre dedicated to them.
• They are encouraged to be vocal about their issues and share their views and experiences for social development.

Purpose

To empower the slum women to be able to earn a livelihood for themselves and become self-reliant.

Objective

 We aim to help the women from these specific slums by helping them to set up a business which is run by them. It is run in a community participatory approach by involving youth, family members of these women and the women themselves. This program improves their socio-economic conditions thus increasing their confidence level and encouraging other women from the community to participate and explore other business opportunities, thus generating employment opportunities for the community at large.

Initiative

 RSBF mobilised a group of women with leadership and entrepreneurial abilities to come together and create a small business of cold-pressed oil manufacturing. We trained them on the extraction process, quality maintenance, certification, labelling and packaging and in establishing market linkage. We also groom them on their personal hygiene personality development and scalability of business.  We procure raw materials and provide them with a cold press oil unit from which the oil of any nuts and seeds can be extracted. 

Impact

1. The project has already empowered a total of five women, and their family members have also benefited from the seed funding provided to establish the oil unit. It is hoped that this effort will help to uplift the socioeconomically deprived Ramoshi, Wadar, and Nathpanthi populations living in these neglected areas.
2. To generate livelihood opportunities for the women of these backward communities.
3. Increases their confidence level and respect among their family members and the community at large. 
4. Knowledge and awareness between traditional healthy organic cold pressed oils vs. inorganic oil available at the market and its long-term health benefits.

Project Summary

 The first 1000 days of life – between a woman’s pregnancy and the child’s second birthday is a unique ‘window of opportunity’ when the foundation of optimal health and development is established. How well or how poorly mothers and children are nourished and cared for during this period has a profound impact on a child’s ability to grow, learn, and thrive. Poor nutrition during this period can cause irreversible damage to a child’s growing brain, affecting his/her ability to perform well in school and earn a good living. As such, it contributes to society’s long-term health, stability, and prosperity. 

A child's development, learning, and well-being are significantly influenced by the quality of nutrition and care provided to mothers and children during this time. It also prevents malnutrition.

Purpose

• To Provide health care and health awareness, screenings, vaccinations, and nutritious food to a child from a mother’s womb till they turn two years old.
• To improve the health indicators of the beneficiaries by providing health care facilities and conducting nutritious food campaigns/Poshan Abhiyaan (Community Poshan Shivir) as required to a child to prevent malnutrition from a mother’s womb till they turn 2 years.

Objectives

• The foundation for optimal health and development is laid during the first 1000 days of life. From a woman's pregnancy till her child's second birthday, is a special "window of opportunity. “The development, learning, and well-being of a child are significantly influenced by the quality of nutrition and care provided to mothers and children during this time.
• Our objective is to reduce incidences of deaths and malnutrition status of pregnant and lactating women and children below 2 years by 75% over 5 years in the selected panchayats of Gamharia block of Seraikela district through a community-based preventive approach through the existing government health systems. 
  
• To promote a convergence mechanism at the district, block, and panchayat levels improving accessibility and utilization of primary health and nutrition care services for mothers and children by addressing the supply-side bottlenecks.

Initiatives

 The National Health Mission, ICDS, and Poshan Abhiyaan are a few of the government flagship programs that have emphasized this strategy, demonstrating the current policy framework's emphasis on it. However, to actualize this idea and promote it through the government's frontline service providers, a lot of work needs to be done at the system level with important departments (such as health and social welfare) and at the community level with mothers who are caregivers. This necessitates the need for external support. We have held various initiatives to help the villagers understand the effects of malnutrition and the mortality rate of children below two years. Our efforts support community engagement and service providers for capacity building.

Impact

 Malnutrition can cause permanent harm to the developing brain of infants, which can impair their capacity to learn effectively and make a respectable living. Our initiatives support the long-term prosperity, stability, and well-being of society.

Purpose

 To improve the health status of female students by offering them free primary health care of high quality, at their doorstep. To raise awareness amongst tribal schoolgirls on cleanliness, hygiene, and health.

Objective

• To provide quality primary health care services free of cost to the girl students at their doorstep.
• To save the health expenses of school children.
• To sensitize schoolgirls towards the importance of health and hygiene.

Initiative

 RSB Foundation organizes free medical camps at the BSA School in Sundernagar, East Singhbhum district, Jharkhand twice a month. Doctors and CSR personnel visit the location to give the tribal girls free medical examinations, advice, and medications. 

• This initiative caters to almost 220 tribal girl students from the isolated districts of Jamshedpur and East Potka in east Singhbhum.
• The beneficiaries save their expenses on health care and medicines.
• They follow better water, sanitation, and hygiene practices.

Purpose

• To support and promote education for tribal girl students of rural pockets of Dumuria block, east Singhbhum district, Jharkhand.
• Upliftment of tribal children by providing them with nutritious food and medical facilities.

Objective

• To support and encourage the tribal children to get motivated to attend schools by providing them with nutritious and wholesome meals and helping them to concentrate on classroom activities.
• Good and healthy food eating habits enable them to focus on their studies and not on classroom hunger. 
• Prevent health expenses and provide quality health care services to these children. 
• To promote social integration [children irrespective of their caste, creed or religion sit together and have their meals]. Thus, eliminating discrimination.
• To provide medical camp for their betterment.
• To sensitize them on sanitation by implementing the best practices of health and hygiene.

Initiatives

  Lakhadih Village, Dumaria Block, Jharkhand, is situated 90 miles from Jamshedpur atop a steep hill with a rough topography and a home to almost 67 families. It is a dangerous area primarily inhabited by Naxals and stretches 12 kilometers on foot from the ground. There is no access to the village by road or other means of transportation. 409 people live in Lakhadih village; 241 of them are men and 168 are women, according to the 2011 Population Census.

Impact

• The project is running since April 2005.
• We targeted 56 disadvantaged and socially and economically backward Scheduled Tribe children living in Lakhadih and the neighbouring tribal communities this year.
• More than 500 students have benefited through this programme.

Perpose

During covid when schools and colleges were operating online, these rural students had no access to online teaching, that is when RSB Foundation came forward to help them by providing them online as well as offline coaching [maintaining social distance] for Maths, Science, and English to help them to appear for their board exams that year.

Objective

• To improve the Matric and Inter Board results of the underprivileged rural students.
• To enhance their capability and Personality. 

Initiative The RSB CSR Team did several meetings with Mukhia’s Gram Pradhans, Community teachers, and proactive members of the society to encourage the families to send their children to benefit from the coaching classes. We also did door-to-door campaigns to motivate the students and their parents. Initially, we started with centres at Birbanas Panchayat and BSA School Sundarnagar (Covid-19) where our CSR Representative himself taught these children. We observed that this helped them improve their scores in the board exams and confidence level. As the schools remained shut for a very long time the students’ interest in studies was depreciating. Hence, considering the improvement in students of our coaching classes, the Village Panchayats and Various Govt Schools requested for similar centres to be opened in other locations, therefore, we expanded to another 16 centres. As we expanded, we hired more talented teachers from the community itself to educate these children.

Impact

• Benefitted more than 800 students so far.
• One student named Roshni Mahato secured 92.6% in the Jharkhand state board exams. Many more students scored more than 80% on board exams.
• Since our intervention, we have achieved a 100% passing percentage.
• We were able to encourage the students [especially tribal students] to study and benefit from the coaching facility.
• There was a stark difference and improvement in their academics as well as co-curricular activities.  
• Through this initiative, they are getting motivated to higher education and getting admissions to better colleges. 
• Through counselling these students get encouraged to spread awareness of the benefit of education and its impact on their lives, making them responsible citizens of the country.

The objective of the "Purnima" program is to empower orphaned girls through education, providing them with the necessary tools, resources, and support to break the cycle of poverty and transform their lives. By offering quality education, the program aims to enhance their knowledge, skills, and self-confidence, enabling them to become self-reliant, responsible, and contributing members of society.

Additionally, the program strives to promote gender equality by ensuring that these girls have equal access to educational opportunities, enabling them to pursue their aspirations and dreams. "Purnima" also aims to create a nurturing and inclusive environment, fostering personal growth, emotional well-being, and social integration among the participants.
