Purpose
The primary purpose of the establishment of this system is to create a provision for constructing environment-friendly wet waste composting pits for the residents of Bopodi. The system will help in managing the solid waste generated by the community in an efficient and sustainable manner.
Objective
The objective of this project is to educate community members about the importance of segregating waste into wet and dry waste. With no provision for wet waste dumping in the neighbourhood, the project aims to construct 10 wet waste composting pits in collaboration with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Rotary Club of Pune. The project also aims to reduce the carbon footprint by converting waste to compost and using it in plantations.
Initiative
The Community Solid Waste Management System has initiated awareness campaigns amongst the community members to differentiate between wet and dry waste. With the help of PMC and the Rotary Club of Pune, the project has successfully constructed 10 wet waste composting pits.
